I am in the process of applying for a new passport because mine ran out back in January. I have picked up the forms and everything i need to do this but i am shocked at the price! the last time my passport was renewed it didn't cost even half of what it does now. I can't believe the government can get away with charging such huge amounts for a passport. I assume this is done because they know they can get away with it. The passport cost i believe should work on time left in your passport. This way anyone applying early can save some money leaving those that forget and needing emergency ones paying a premium. I don't see why this wouldn't work to be honest and would make it better for those who are prepared. I know that some foreign passports you can obtain cost as little as £7 so dont know why our own ones cost 10x that or even more to get it done quickly. I think i will look into applying for an irish passport. |
