Appreciating the Joys and Pains of Motherhood

When Maria gave birth to James, she was the happiest woman on earth. It has always been her dream to become a mother - to have a family of her own. Having grown up in a foster home, it is easy to understand Maria's longing to build her own family. She wanted to make a difference in the lives of her kids in the future. She promised herself that unlike her own parents, she would never abandon her children in anyway, no matter of difficult the situation will be. Everything went smoothly for some time, but started to change when James became a teenager. All of a sudden, Maria found herself struggling to assert her parental obligations on her son. Many times she finds herself wishing that there would be a parents hotline which parents could call easily for tips on parenting and for support, especially in dealing with teenagers. But despite all the challenges that come with being a parent, Maria is still grateful for the chance of being a mother, knowing that not everyone gets to experience motherhood.
